In short
Our creator network includes medical creators. ASCI expects creators who post about health and nutrition to hold relevant qualifications and to disclose them upfront. We check this and build clear disclosure into the written agreement. Brands in regulated categories should also take their own compliance advice.
Why medical and health creators
People look for health information from someone they can trust. Creators with a medical background can explain conditions, products and habits in simple language. Because the topic affects people's wellbeing, credibility and accuracy come first.
The rules you need to know
ASCI's influencer guidelines require a clear label on any promotional post. In August 2023, ASCI added extra expectations for creators in health and nutrition.
- Creators posting on health and nutrition are expected to hold relevant qualifications, such as a medical degree or certification as a nurse, nutritionist, dietician, physiotherapist or psychologist, as applicable
- These qualifications should be disclosed prominently and upfront in the content
- Breaking the rules can bring penalties under consumer protection law
Rules change. Check the current ASCI guidance, and take your own compliance advice for your category.
